On Monday morning, 2 delegates from each classroom met in the library with Mrs. Eley. Their job was to be a part of the 8th Annual Hillside School Constitutional Convention! They carried their "classroom rules" poster and hung the poster along the library shelves. Each delegate read their classroom rules aloud, and then the students were asked to decide which rules would make good "whole school" rules (following the Responsive Classroom methodology).
Whole-school rules were suggested by the students, and then narrowed down by voting and discussion. (A majority vote of 18 or more hands had to be raised for a rule to be approved as a "whole-school" rule.)
Today, the student body voted to approve the following Constitution for Hillside School for 2013-14:
