About the Library

Mrs. Susan Landis Eley, Teacher Librarian
Phone: (856)235-1341 x 7011
Students at Hillside Elementary School come to the library once a week for 50 minutes, which includes time for them to check out books. (PreK and Kindergarten lessons are 25 minutes.) A typical library lesson could be evaluating websites, completing an author study, singing songs about a topic and reading more about it, practicing for a readers' theater performance, locating information in an online resource, completing an author research report, or using online maps.
For more information, view the Mt. Laurel Twp. Schools Library Media Curriculum here (approved 2012).
Students in the Hillside Library are BUSY and the library curriculum supplements and augments the classroom curriculum. Comprehensive library programs are proven to increase student achievement, and the Hillside library program strives to be a place of creativity, fun, and exploration. Ask your student what goes on in library class! Libraries are no longer just "book vaults."
The mission of the Hillside Elementary Media Center program is to help children become fluent and avid readers of stories and informational text, to become "media smart" in evaluating sources of information, and to be fluent users of technology to create and find information.

The Hillside Library has three simple rules:
  • respect others,
  • respect materials, and
  • be responsible.

Hours & Circulation

The Library is open Monday-Friday from 9:00-3:20. Books should be returned in one week (on the student's next library day). Books can be renewed as often as is needed by the student, unless the book is on hold for another student. Students should notify Mrs. Eley if a book has been lost or damaged.
